1. Gothenburg Harbour quay cutting

Port of Gothenburg – Concrete Quay Cutting

Trosscut Europe OÜ carried out a large-scale concrete cutting project at the Port of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Port of Gothenburg – Concrete Quay Cutting

  • Challenge:
Heavy reinforced quay, marine conditions, expensive crane usage
  • Solution:
Diamond wire sawing + optimized cutting sequence
  • Result:
✔ Reduced need for heavy cranes (Sennebogen 5500)
    ✔ Faster project execution
    ✔ Lower total cost

The project involved the demolition and sectioning of a reinforced concrete quay structure. Using diamond wire sawing and heavy concrete cutting equipment, our team completed both horizontal and vertical cuts to divide the quay into removable sections.

Over a period of five weeks, approximately 200 meters of reinforced concrete quay structure was cut into transportable blocks.

Scope of work included:

• horizontal concrete cutting of quay structures
• vertical concrete cutting through heavily reinforced concrete
• sectioning of quay wall structures into removable elements
• precision cutting in a marine port environment

The project required careful planning and precise execution due to the heavy reinforcement and challenging harbour conditions.

Our specialized equipment and experienced operators ensured safe and efficient cutting operations throughout the project.

2. Vertical Shaft in Rock – 6 × 6 m, 50 m Deep

Vertical Shaft Cutting – 6 × 6 m, 50 m Deep (Nordic Region)

Trosscut has completed 10 vertical shafts in Sweden and Finland, using diamond wire sawing in demanding rock conditions.

Project details:

  • Location: Sweden / Finland
  • Shaft size: 6 × 6 m
  • Depth: 50 m
  • Method: Diamond wire sawing
  • Scope: Vertical shaft excavation

This shaft required precise and controlled cutting to maintain straight geometry over the full 50 m depth. The method allowed minimal vibration and reduced impact on the surrounding rock mass.

Vertical shaft cutting is particularly suitable in projects where blasting is restricted and high precision is required.

3. Rock Surface Cutting – 800 m² Precision Leveling (Telakkaranta, Turku, Finland)

Trosscut carried out precision rock cutting works in Telakkaranta, delivering controlled and accurate geometry for demanding construction conditions.

Project details

  • Location: Telakkaranta
  • City: Turku
  • Scope: Rock surface cutting and leveling
  • Area: 800 m²
  • Method: Diamond wire sawing
  • Environment: Urban waterfront

Work description

The project required precise and controlled cutting to achieve a straight and level rock surface with strict geometric requirements.

Diamond wire sawing was used to define the final geometry, ensuring clean surfaces, minimal vibration and controlled execution in a sensitive urban environment.

The precision cutting phase played a key role in achieving the required quality, after which the remaining material was removed using conventional methods.

Result

The result was a clean, straight and precisely controlled rock surface, ready for the next construction phase.
